KAOHSIUNG — Twenty-six hospitals across Kaohsiung will remain open during the Lunar New Year holiday, maintaining 24-hour emergency room services and limited outpatient clinics to ensure uninterrupted access to medical care, according to the city’s Health Bureau.
Officials said that 23 designated emergency-response hospitals will also run special infectious-disease clinics from Feb. 17 to Feb. 19 (Lunar New Year’s Day through Day Three). These clinics will treat patients presenting symptoms such as cough, sore throat, headache, fatigue, vomiting, and diarrhea.
To relieve pressure on major medical centers during the holiday surge, the city has established a light-emergency care center at Wenhsiung Hospital (文雄醫院) in Sanmin District. The facility will operate daily from 8 a.m. to midnight during the holiday period, except on Lunar New Year’s Eve and the fifth day of the new year, focusing on patients with mild but urgent conditions.
Emergency departments at all hospitals will continue operating as usual throughout the holiday. Residents are advised to consult the Health Bureau’s compiled list of emergency-response and municipal hospital outpatient schedules, available on the bureau’s website under “Latest News.” Information can also be accessed via the National Health Insurance mobile app’s Lunar New Year hospital service query function.
