The Yokosuka Council on Asia-Pacific Studies (YCAPS), in partnership with Taiwan’s Ocean Affairs Council (TOAC), has opened applications for the third cohort of the Maritime Governance Empowered Network for Innovation and Education (Maritime GENIE).

Maritime GENIE is a leadership and policy innovation program for early- to mid-career professionals working on maritime governance at the national, regional, or global level, with a strong focus on Taiwan’s maritime policy, sustainability efforts, and regional role.

Participants will engage in expert-led webinars with international and Taiwanese specialists, combining policy frameworks with hands-on mentorship. Each participant will develop a practical, policy-oriented innovation proposal addressing real-world maritime governance challenges.

The program includes online learning from April to October and in-person participation in Taiwan, including the Taiwan International Ocean Forum and a three-day policy workshop in July 2026.

Applicants must have at least three years of relevant experience. All nationalities are eligible. Twelve participants will be selected through a competitive process.

Travel and accommodation will be covered by the program.
