KAOHSIUNG — The 7th regular session of the 4th Kaohsiung City Council opened Monday, with Mayor Chen Chi-mai outlining city measures on water supply and ongoing infrastructure projects.
Chen said Kaohsiung’s daily water supply capacity is about 1.6 million metric tons, with current usage around 1.5 million tons, including roughly 300,000 tons for industrial use. He said supply and demand remain stable. The city has also prepared contingency measures, including 110 groundwater wells in Dashu District (大樹區) and subsurface water sources capable of supplying about 340,000 tons, allowing flexible allocation depending on conditions.
Chen said the city will continue advancing major infrastructure and cross-year projects, including the New Provincial Highway 17 (新台17線) and Baguo Bridge (八涳橋) upgrades, while strengthening flood prevention measures ahead of the rainy season.
According to the council agenda, mayoral policy reports and questioning will take place March 31 and April 1, followed by general interpellation sessions from May 11 to May 25. The session is scheduled to close on June 4.
