KAOHSIUNG — A 21-year-old man is suspected of fatigued driving after veering into the opposite lane and crashing into multiple parked vehicles in Kaohsiung’s Sanmin District early April 8.

According to a report by Lai Media, the crash occurred at about 5:45 a.m. on Tianxiang 1st Road (天祥一路), where the driver, surnamed Yu (尤), lost control of his car and struck two parked vehicles and a motorcycle. The impact also damaged a roadside light pole and a storefront glass door.

Yu and two passengers sustained minor leg injuries but declined hospital treatment, police said.

Officers arrived at the scene to manage traffic and conduct measurements. A breathalyzer test confirmed the driver had not been drinking or using drugs.

Preliminary findings indicate that the driver may have crossed into oncoming traffic without signaling and failed to pay attention to road conditions, violations that could result in fines of up to NT$5,400. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Police reminded drivers to ensure they are alert before getting behind the wheel and to stop and rest if they feel fatigued while driving.
