KAOHSIUNG — The Transportation Bureau (高雄市交通局) has opened two new parking lots in the Chengcing Lake (澄清湖) area, adding 263 car spaces ahead of the Dragon Boat Festival holiday weekend.
The new Chengcing Lake Rear Gate Parking Lot has 92 spaces, while the Chengcing Lake Maze Garden Parking Lot has 171 spaces, the bureau said.
The lots are intended to ease weekend and holiday parking demand around Chengcing Lake Scenic Area (澄清湖風景區) and Kaohsiung Green Park (高雄果嶺自然公園), a former golf course that has been converted into a public park. Traffic in the area is often concentrated on Ciouchang Road (球場路), Songyi Road (松藝路), and Yuanshan Road (圓山路), the bureau said.
The bureau said the two new lots, combined with Chengcing Lake’s existing 284 car spaces, bring the area’s total parking supply to 547 spaces.
Both lots include pedestrian routes connecting to Songyi Road. Visitors parking at the rear-gate lot can walk to the Songyi-Bade South Road intersection, while those using the Maze Garden lot can cross Songyi Road near Pond No. 10 to reach Kaohsiung Green Park.

The rear-gate lot was built by the Public Works Bureau’s Road Maintenance Office (工務局道路養護工程處) using permeable paving to support drainage, the Transportation Bureau said.
The Maze Garden lot was created by reorganizing unused space in the park area and planning vehicle entrances, exits, and pedestrian routes around the existing landscape, the bureau said.
The bureau said the new parking areas are expected to reduce the number of vehicles circling nearby roads during peak visiting periods.
The lots will operate according to Chengcing Lake Scenic Area opening hours, and parking fees will follow the area’s existing rules. Visitors are urged to follow on-site signs and markings when parking.
