KAOHSIUNG — From January through November 2025, Kaohsiung recorded just over 62,000 violations at 108 automated enforcement locations. Of those violations, about 33,000 were for red-light running, making it by far the most common offense.

The busiest enforcement point was on Jhongzheng 1st Road (中正一路), on the west side of the freeway in Lingya District, where 13,778 violations were recorded, again topping the city’s list of high-ticket locations. Yahoo News

Police also remind the public that an opt-in SMS notification system is available for confirmed automated enforcement violations, though messages do not include fine-payment requests. Drivers can register their mobile number and basic details via the official Kaohsiung traffic violation service website or by scanning a QR code provided on police or city sites. Once approved, the system will send SMS alerts as soon as a violation is confirmed.

Authorities say the network’s expansion appears to be producing safety benefits: intersections with automated enforcement recorded 2,186 traffic accidents from January through November, a drop of 461 incidents (about 17.4%) compared with before cameras were installed. Yahoo News

In response to ongoing traffic issues, Kaohsiung police plan to add two more automated sites along Yanhai Road (沿海路) in Xiaogang District to target vehicles violating restrictions and further curb unsafe driving behaviors. TVBS

Based on TVBS and Yahoo News reporting.
