KAOHSIUNG — The 2026 Cijin Kite Festival will enter its final weekend Aug. 8-9, with giant ocean-themed kites, night displays, a DJ show, and fire dance performances planned near the Gate of Love (鍾愛之門) at Cijin Beach.
The event runs from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, the Kaohsiung Tourism Bureau said.

This year’s festival features two 35-meter whale kites, making their first appearance in Taiwan, along with stingray, octopus, sea turtle, and other marine-themed kites.
Night activities will include illuminated kite displays, a DJ show, and fire dance performances.
The city said visitors can also use the Cijin x Hamasen Summer Voucher (旗津X哈瑪星盛夏優惠券), a NT$30 discount coupon program linked to ferry rides, local shopping, food, and accommodation. The voucher program runs through Aug. 30.

Kaohsiung City Shipping Co. said general visitors will not be allowed to bring gasoline-powered scooters onto ferries to Cijin from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 8 and 9. Cijin residents, official-use scooters, electric scooters, and bicycles are exempt.
Visitors are encouraged to take the MRT to Hamasen Station (O1) or the light rail to Hamasen Station (C14), then transfer to the ferry at Gushan Ferry Station or KW2 before walking about five minutes from Cijin Ferry Station to the event site.
