PINGTUNG — The audience will have a seat at the wedding banquet when Xingcun Has a Wedding (星村有喜事) returns to Pingtung for two performances on Nov. 13 and 14.
The outdoor production combines a play, songs, acrobatics and a full table meal, with guests taking part in the fictional celebration.Set in 1987, the story follows a village chief in Shengli Star Village (勝利星村) as he prepares for his daughter’s wedding.
Producer Wang Wei-chung (王偉忠) oversees the show, which features performers Cen Yong-kang (岑永康), Chou Ting-wei (周定緯), Lo Mei-ling (羅美玲), Huang Yun-hsin (黃云歆) and Na Qi (那祈). The county Culture Affairs Department said this year’s banquet will move to the larger Desheng New Village Remains Park (得勝新村遺構公園) after last year’s tables sold out.
Both performances begin at 6:30 p.m. Banquet tickets go on sale through OPENTIX at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, and are sold by the table, with 10 seats per table.
The Culture Affairs Department lists the price at NT$8,880 per table. Its planned menu includes dishes inspired by military dependents’ village cooking and Pingtung ingredients.
