KAOHSIUNG — The Kaohsiung City Tourism Bureau (高雄市政府觀光局) announced an expansion of its “Spring Picnic” (春日野餐趣) event at the Kaohsiung Green Park (果嶺自然公園) to coincide with the upcoming Labor Day long weekend from May 1 to May 3.

The 70-hectare park, which opened in October 2025 as Taiwan’s first ecological park converted from a golf course, has reportedly seen an average of 18,000 visitors per day on weekends. The park has a 7.2-kilometer trail network that connects grasslands, forests, and ponds.

According to Tourism Director Kao Min-lin (高閔琳), the upcoming festivities will feature a “Kaohsiung Bear” (高雄熊) meet-and-greet and a special Labor Day performance of the musical picture book “Spider’s Colorful World” (史派德的彩色世界) by artist Wang Li-yan (王立言).

The Liberty Times reports that the event site, centered around the 1st and 10th fairways, includes large-scale “Red Ball” (紅咚咚) interactive art installations and “OB Bubble” (OB泡泡) bumper ball activity zones. The “Green Field” (綠野仙蹤) stage will host magic shows, juggling, and storytelling throughout the three days.

Market stalls featuring 15 local food and craft vendors will be present. Participation in parent-child workshops, such as making native bird ornaments or leather engraving, requires prior registration and includes a commemorative picnic mat.
