KAOHSIUNG — Meet Greater South will open Friday, Aug. 28, at the North Hall of the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center, bringing startups and technology providers together with companies seeking practical tools for manufacturing, management, health care, sustainability, retail and overseas marketing, according to Meet Greater South.

The expo runs through Saturday, Aug. 29. Organizers say it is designed around business problems facing southern Taiwan, including labor shortages, aging production systems, operational efficiency and pressure to cut carbon emissions.

    Six solution areas

The event website groups exhibitors into six areas:

    • Smart manufacturing and production upgrades
    • Digital management and enterprise efficiency
    • Health care and senior care
    • Net-zero emissions, green energy and ESG services
    • Retail and food-service technology
    • Brand transformation and cross-border marketing

    Forums and matchmaking

The Meet Greater South program lists an Industrial Transformation in Action Forum from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday and a food entrepreneurship salon from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. It also includes an English-language global solutions showcase, Chinese-language exhibitor presentations, workshops and matchmaking sessions, some of which require prior approval.

The Industrial Transformation in Action Forum agenda says speakers will address labor shortages, succession at established businesses, AI implementation and operating efficiency. Management consultant Richard Chen (陳宗賢), whom organizers describe as having advised 3,000 companies, is scheduled to discuss obstacles facing small and medium-sized enterprises during transformation.

Other scheduled speakers represent Chunghwa Telecom, Amazon Global Selling, Omnichat, Aibou and several technology companies. Topics include computing and AI infrastructure, factory succession, international brand development, AI agents, staffing and search-engine optimization.

The food entrepreneurship salon program will examine whether gig-worker platforms can ease hiring shortages, whether AI cooking systems can help preserve kitchen processes, and how shared production and data-led branding might support restaurant expansion. The program presents these technologies as questions and possible approaches rather than established solutions.
