KAOHSIUNG — Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁) invited students from remote rural districts on Thursday to an exclusive preview of the “Dino-A-Live” immersive exhibition at the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying). The event precedes the official opening of the “Dinosaur Cool Paradise” (恐龍酷樂園) festival, scheduled to run from April 3 to April 6 for the Children’s Day holiday.

The preview featured a “Face-to-Face with Dinosaurs” experience produced by the Japanese animatronics team DINO-A-LIVE. The performance utilized precision mechanical engineering and puppetry to simulate the breathing, movement, and expressions of life-sized dinosaurs.

    Educational Equity Initiative

The mayor said the city government organized the special session on Thursday to promote educational equity, an attempt to bridge the resource gap between urban and rural school districts.

Students attending the preview described the experience as realistic, with one student noting that the dinosaurs “seemed to look directly at the audience.”

    Festival Components

According to the Kaohsiung Education Bureau, the “Dinosaur Cool Paradise” will integrate stage performances with interactive science education. In addition to the Japanese animatronic shows, the festival area at Weiwuying includes:

    • Dinosaur Grassland: An open-air display area.
    • Fossil Experience Zone: Hands-on archaeological simulations.
    • Dinosaur Sports Meet: Physical activity stations for children.
    • Themed Market: Seasonal retail and food vendors.

The bureau invited families from across the country to visit the immersive event during the four-day holiday period.
