KAOHSIUNG — Two former staff members at the Gangshan Eye Skywalk (崗山之眼) have been indicted on charges of occupational embezzlement after allegedly reselling used tickets and pocketing the proceeds, prosecutors said Tuesday.

According to the Kaohsiung District Prosecutors’ Office (高雄地檢署), a 67-year-old ticket seller surnamed Wu (吳) and a 64-year-old ticket inspector surnamed Shih (施) are accused of conspiring to recycle punched admission tickets and resell them to unsuspecting visitors. The scheme allegedly netted more than NT$15,000 from 303 duplicated ticket sales.

Prosecutors said the case came to light in August 2023 after a visitor reported receiving a ticket that had already been hole-punched. A review by the Kaohsiung City Government Tourism Bureau (高雄市觀光局) found that while the visitor had paid for entry, the transaction did not appear in the ticketing system. Surveillance footage and sales records later identified the two employees as suspects.

Both defendants reportedly admitted involvement but disputed the total amount of illicit gains. Prosecutors said available evidence supports the higher figure and formally charged the pair.

The Gangshan Eye, located on Siaogangshan (小崗山) at the border of Gangshan and Yanchao districts, is known for its suspended skywalk offering panoramic views of the Greater Gangshan area. The park has been closed for renovation since last year amid declining visitor numbers and is expected to reopen in the first quarter of 2027.
