KAOHSIUNG — Costco Taiwan (好市多台灣) plans to relocate its original Kaohsiung store to the Phase 80 redevelopment area of the Asia New Bay Area (亞洲新灣區第80期重劃區).

The Kaohsiung outlet, located on Jhonghua 5th Road, was Costco’s first store in Taiwan when it opened in 1997. After nearly three decades of operation, the site has faced growing constraints related to floor space and parking capacity as customer volumes increased.

Costco Taiwan’s Vice President confirmed the relocation plan, saying the new site is still under construction and that a firm opening date has not yet been finalized. Local media reports suggest the new store could be completed as early as the third quarter of 2026.

The planned facility will reportedly cover approximately 14,000 ping (about 46,000 square meters), making it the largest Costco store in Taiwan. The waterfront location is expected to significantly expand retail capacity in southern Taiwan and anchor further commercial development in the Asia New Bay Area.

Costco currently operates 14 stores across eight cities and counties in Taiwan.
