KAOHSIUNG — The Kaohsiung City Government and the Bureau Français de Taipei (法國在台協會) will host the “French Festival in Kaohsiung” (法國生活節在高雄) at the Weiwuying National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (衛武營國家藝術文化中心) from May 22 to 24, according to a report by TVBS News.
The three-day cultural event, themed “Paris Champs-Élysées: Symphony Night,” marks the first local appearance of the Orchestre philharmonique de Radio France (法國廣播交響樂團). Chang Yen-ching (張硯卿), director of the Department of Administrative and International Affairs (高雄市政府行政暨國際處), told the media that the festival aims to provide an immersive experience of French culture in southern Taiwan through a combination of live music, cinema, and art.
The venue will be configured as a “French Village,” integrating cultural lectures with an expanded “French Brand Market.” The market will feature vendors specializing in French cuisine, pastries, and creative crafts. Organizers say they want the event to blend European aesthetics with local hospitality, creating a cross-cultural hub at the Weiwuying Metropolitan Park (衛武營都會公園).
Vendor registration for the French Brand Market remains open until April 6. Application details and current status can be found via the official channels of the Department of Administrative and International Affairs.
