KAOHSIUNG — A 38-year-old driver was detained early Saturday after entering a Kaohsiung light rail corridor and testing positive in an initial drug screening, police said.

According to CtiNews, Kaohsiung’s Gushan Police Precinct was called to the scene at around 1:50 a.m. near Makadao Road (馬卡道路) and Hua’an Street (華安街), where a driver, identified by the surname Lin (林), had become stuck after mistakenly driving into the light rail right-of-way.

Officers said Lin appeared unstable, and a roadside saliva drug test returned a positive result for drug use.

Police said no damage was found to light rail infrastructure. The vehicle was removed, and operations resumed without disruption.

Lin told officers he was unfamiliar with the road layout and entered the corridor by mistake. Regardless, Lin could face administrative penalties under the Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act, including fines and license suspension.
