KAOHSIUNG — The Central Weather Administration (中央氣象署) issued a heavy rain advisory Monday morning for nine cities and counties, including Kaohsiung and Pingtung, as moist southwesterly winds continued to affect Taiwan.

The advisory was issued at 7:15 a.m. and covered Changhua County (彰化縣), Nantou County (南投縣), Yunlin County (雲林縣), Chiayi City (嘉義市), Chiayi County (嘉義縣), Tainan (台南), Kaohsiung (高雄), Pingtung County (屏東縣) and Penghu County (澎湖縣), Liberty Times reported.

The CWA said short bursts of heavy rain were possible, especially in areas from Changhua southward, Nantou, and Penghu.

Residents were urged to watch for lightning and strong wind gusts. People in mountain areas should be alert for rockfalls and landslides, while low-lying areas could see flooding or standing water.

The warning follows days of unstable weather in southern Taiwan, where repeated rain has already affected roads, mountain districts, and reservoir inflows.

Drivers should slow down in heavy rain and avoid flooded underpasses, riverside roads, and mountain routes if conditions worsen.
