KAOHSIUNG — The OhBear (喔熊) tourist train on the Kaohsiung Circular Light Rail (高雄環狀輕軌) will continue operating on an irregular schedule through Oct. 7, with its fourth carriage transformed by projections of moonlit coastlines and underwater scenes, according to City Magazine.
Taiwan’s Tourism Administration launched the “OhBear Takes You Around Taiwan” train with the light rail operator for the southern edition of the 2026 Tourism Industry Digital Expo. The train began running Sept. 7.
Dynamic images, changing light and sound bring scenes including Green Island (綠島) marine life, a moonlit sea and the purple crow butterflies associated with Maolin National Scenic Area (茂林國家風景區) into the passenger compartment.
The timing covers Taiwan’s Mid-Autumn Festival on Friday, Sept. 25, and Teachers’ Day on Monday, Sept. 28. The Ministry of Labor said the two national holidays create a four-day break for employees whose regular schedules run from Monday to Friday.
The themed train does not have a fixed public timetable. Riders can check the Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corp. live train map or the Kaohsiung MRT app and look for the OhBear icon before heading to a station.
The limited-run train has drawn attention on social media, with some passengers tracking its location specifically to experience the projection-equipped carriage.
