KAOHSIUNG — The tower rising beside Aozihdi MRT Station (凹子底站) is approaching completion, at least for the exterior. Fubon Life held a topping-out ceremony for the development in January, marking a step toward its planned mix of shops, offices, a hotel, an aquarium and sports facilities. It could open partially in 2028, with lower levels and a department store first starting operations, before offices on higher levels open perhaps a year later.
The project, also called Kaohsiung Star (高雄之星), includes a tower planned to reach between 235 and 240 meters, depending on the report. If completed at that height, it would become the city’s third-tallest building, behind 85 Sky Tower and Farglory’s The One. A Bella Taiwan roundup places it alongside several other developments expected to alter the skyline over the coming years.
Those projects are at different stages. Foxconn says it expects to begin building its twin-tower development at the planned Yellow Line’s Y15 station in 2027 and finish in 2033. At the existing 85 Sky Tower (高雄85大樓), a Le Méridien hotel with about 600 rooms is being prepared for an opening targeted for the end of this year.
