KAOHSIUNG — Police arrested a 52-year-old security guard after he allegedly used a cellphone to film beneath attendees’ skirts at the Kaohsiung International ACG Expo on Sunday, Oct. 11, according to the Liberty Times.
The alleged filming occurred shortly after 2 p.m. at Kaohsiung Arena (高雄巨蛋) in Zuoying District (左營區). The man, identified only by his surname Chen (陳), was spotted at the venue and arrested after police were called.
Police said an initial review of the phone identified two victims, a 22-year-old woman and a minor. Investigators were continuing to examine the device to determine whether it contained recordings of other people.
The case is being investigated under Criminal Code provisions covering sexual privacy and secrecy, as well as the Child and Youth Sexual Exploitation Prevention Act because one of the identified victims is under 18, police said. The allegations have not been tested in court.
The anime, comics and games expo was scheduled for Oct. 9 to 12, according to the Kaohsiung Arena event listing.
Police urged people who suspect covert filming at exhibitions or other crowded events to immediately contact venue staff or officers. Anyone who believes they may have been recorded in this case should also report the matter to police.
