KAOHSIUNG — Democratic Progressive Party candidate Lai Jui-lung (賴瑞隆) and Kuomintang candidate Ko Chih-en (柯志恩) will meet for a televised mayoral debate on Friday, Oct. 30, starting at 8 p.m.
The debate is being jointly organized by Formosa Television (民視), CTi News (中天新聞) and PTS Taigi (公視台語台). Representatives of both campaigns met with the broadcasters Oct. 14 to agree on the format, according to Formosa News.
There will be four sections: opening policy presentations, media questions, cross-examination between the candidates and closing statements. FTV and CTi will each appoint a senior journalist to ask questions, while PTS Taigi will provide the moderator.
Ko said she hoped the exchange would clarify the candidates’ positions on municipal issues and help voters make their choice. Lai said he would explain how his experience in city government and the legislature informed his proposals, while questioning his opponent about her plans for Kaohsiung.
The event will take place at the public broadcasting group’s southern studio, according to PTS News. A second coordination meeting is scheduled for noon on Oct. 21.
