KAOHSIUNG — Construction has officially begun on the RK1 Gangshan Station (岡山車站) joint development project, a major transit-oriented development that city officials say will reshape the station area. Plans call for a 23-story mixed-use tower with four underground levels, directly integrated with the station’s No. 1 exit in what developers describe as a true “step-off-the-train-and-go-home” design.

Beyond housing, the project will introduce retail space, a fitness center, a public childcare facility, and new pedestrian-friendly features, including a landscaped sidewalk, a corner plaza, and an additional station access point along Gangyan Road (岡燕路). Official computer-generated renderings released by the Kaohsiung MRT Bureau show the tower designed as a new visual gateway for the Gangshan station area.

The project, located on the west side of the Kaohsiung MRT Red Line’s RK1 Gangshan Station, is being developed by Dalin Development (達麗建設) with a total investment of NT$2.7 billion.

According to city officials, the development will deliver 360 residential units, with an estimated total sales value of roughly NT$5.3 billion, and a total floor area of nearly 13,000 ping. The project is scheduled for completion in June 2030, with the developer aiming to begin public sales as early as the third quarter of 2027.

Kaohsiung Deputy Mayor Lin Chin-rong (林欽榮) said the site occupies a strategic position between the Lujhu Science Park, Qiaotou Science Park, Nanzih Technology Industrial Park, and other key employment zones, making Gangshan a critical node in northern Kaohsiung’s emerging semiconductor and advanced manufacturing corridor.

Ridership at RK1 Station has grown steadily since the station opened on June 30, 2024. The Kaohsiung MRT Engineering Bureau reports average daily usage rose from about 3,100 passengers shortly after opening to approximately 3,800 in 2025, an increase of around 22.5 percent.
