The Facebook page 高雄好過日, which translates roughly in English to Life is good in Kaohsiung”/ “Kaohsiung is a great place to live,” on Saturday posted an update on the Fubon Aozidi Tower. The translated post reports that:
“Construction of the main tower at the Fubon Aozihdi Development (富邦凹子底開發案) has reached 45 floors, leaving only the final two levels toward its full 47-story design. With the core structure now exceeding 200 meters, the building has already become a defining landmark of North Kaohsiung (北高雄).
The developer currently expects to obtain an occupancy permit by the end of 2026, with the office portion projected to be the first component to open. The long-anticipated Hanshin Third Mall (漢神三館) is scheduled to debut in 2028, alongside the project’s aquarium, fitness center, and other public facilities.
The hotel tower—now undergoing roofing work—remains the most uncertain element. The brand partner has not yet been finalized, and the opening timeline cannot be confirmed.
Nearby projects face delays
Compared with Fubon’s steady progress, two neighboring developments have fallen behind:
- Lien Shang “Ting 35” BOT Project (聯上「停35」BOT案)
- E-Sky Land Building B (義享天地B館)
Both were originally slated for completion this year but are now expected to be pushed into next year.
A massive new retail anchor
The Hanshin Third Mall is designed with roughly 45,000 ping (about 148,500 m²) of retail floorspace. Including parking, the total area surpasses 80,000 ping, making it more than twice the size of Hanshin Arena Mall (漢神巨蛋).
The project also includes direct underground connectivity to the Kaohsiung Metro Aozihdi Station (捷運凹子底站) concourse level.
Transit ridership rising; integration potential grows
Since the completion of the Kaohsiung Light Rail loop (輕軌成圓), ridership at Aozihdi Station has risen significantly. On the Metro Red Line, Aozihdi now consistently ranks among the top six stations system-wide, and analysts believe it could eventually enter the top three as the Fubon development and surrounding projects open.
Given the scale of the incoming mall and the station’s rising passenger volume, city planners and operators may eventually need to evaluate: Further transport–land use integration, light rail platform extensions, and perhaps vertical or direct pedestrian links between the station and the new commercial complex
