KAOHSIUNG — A new family amusement park featuring more than 30 attractions opened in Kaohsiung on Saturday, transforming part of the former Taiwan Railways Administration Kaohsiung Workshop into a free recreation space.
The Kaohsiung Family Recreation Park (高雄親子遊樂園區), built on part of the former Taiwan Railways Administration Kaohsiung Workshop site near the Lingya-Fongshan border, includes climbing walls, trampolines, rope structures, a parkour area, and other indoor and outdoor facilities.
The city government describes it as Taiwan’s largest semi-indoor family recreation area. Much of the former railway workshop’s high steel structure and industrial appearance has been retained.
Additional attractions are being offered during the summer, including an outdoor inflatable water park, waterslides, a carousel, and an inflatable maze, along with performances, character displays, and a food market.
Access to the outdoor water park is reportedly limited. Tickets for 150 places are distributed on site for each set of sessions, while another 100 places can be reserved online through the city’s digital citizen system.
Officials are urging visitors to use public transportation, particularly during the opening period. The park is about a one-minute walk from the C35 Kaisyuan Wuchang light rail station (凱旋武昌站).
Bus Route 100 also stops at the nearby Railway Workshop stop (鐵路機廠站), while free shuttle buses will operate on weekends in August between MRT Cultural Center Station Exit 3 and Kaisyuan Wuchang Station from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., departing about every 20 minutes.
City officials warned that parking is limited and heavy crowds are expected during the opening period.
