KAOHSIUNG — The Kaohsiung City Police Department (高雄市政府警察局) said April 27 that it has opened an investigation into allegations that supervisors failed to properly handle a sexual harassment complaint involving a senior officer.

The case involves a female officer who transferred to an unnamed precinct in September 2025. She later filed a formal complaint with the Women and Children Protection Police Squad (婦幼警察隊), alleging that a senior officer repeatedly used sexually explicit language toward her, local media reported.

According to the complaint, the officer also invited her on what he described as a group hiking trip. The woman said that after arriving, she discovered the officer had instead booked a private room at a hot spring hotel and that other colleagues he said would attend were not there.

The woman also alleged that her initial report to the precinct’s Supervisory Group (督察組) was not properly investigated. She claimed the group’s leader had a close personal relationship with the accused officer and that the complaint was effectively suppressed, after which she faced workplace bullying.

The police department said a special investigative committee, including outside experts, has been formed, and any officers found to have covered up the case or failed in their duties would face disciplinary action.

The accused officer was reportedly scheduled to retire in July 2026. Police said the outcome of the investigation could affect his retirement status and related benefits.

Local reports said the officer was also involved in an unrelated adultery case about 18 years ago. At the time, adultery was a criminal offense.
