PINGTUNG — Registration has opened for the 2026 Pingtung Kenting Japan Airlines International Marathon (屏東墾丁日本航空國際馬拉松), which will be held Nov. 15 at Kenting’s Dawan Lawn (墾丁大灣草坪).
The Pingtung County Government announced the event on Wednesday, describing it as a winter running and tourism event built around Kenting’s coastal scenery and location near Taiwan’s southernmost point.
Runners can enter one of four categories: a 42-kilometer full marathon, a 21-kilometer half marathon, a 12-kilometer challenge race, or a 4-kilometer experience race.
Activities will take place over the weekend of November 14-15, with the races scheduled for Sunday.
Japan Airlines (日本航空) is returning as the event’s title sponsor. Organizers said 30 participants will have the chance to receive 20,000 Japan Airlines Mileage Bank miles, along with other prizes.
The county is also introducing a tourism package linking two popular Pingtung attractions and recruiting hotels to offer runner-friendly services during the event weekend.
The Transportation and Tourism Department (交通旅遊處) said they encourage competitors to combine the race with travel in Kenting and other parts of Pingtung.
The marathon is organized by the Pingtung County Government, with the Pingtung Tourism Association (屏東縣觀光協會) and LAVA Sports (LAVA鐵人公司) handling event operations.
Registration will remain open until all places are filled.
