KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan — The Kaohsiung Medical University’s [高雄醫學大學] Oct. 10-12 international conference on biomedicine, titled “Medical Innovation in the AI Wave: Opportunities and Challenges 2025” [高醫特色跨領域國際研討會——人工智慧浪潮下的醫學革新:機會與挑戰] tackled over a dozen major issues, such as AI in healthcare and education, medical education and ethics, (including IRB, telemedicine, and long-term care), precision sports medicine, anti-doping, precision environmental medicine on air pollution and health, regenerative medicine, iUSR, colorectal and liver disease, dysphagia care, oral precision medicine, early-phase oncology trials and precision drug development.

KMU’s affiliated Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital [高醫中和紀念醫院] presented three AI tools at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2025 expo in Las Vegas in March, including mammography image quality checks, endotracheal tube anomaly alerts, and sudden cardiac death risk warnings, underscoring the clinical focus of the conference themes.
