KAOHSIUNG — Kuomintang mayoral candidate Ko Chih-en (柯志恩) and Democratic Progressive Party candidate Lai Jui-lung (賴瑞隆) have agreed to participate in the first televised debate of this year’s Kaohsiung mayoral election.
The debate will be jointly organized by CTi Television (中天電視), Formosa Television (民視) and PTS Taiwanese (公視台語台), according to China Times.
The broadcasters have selected the Public Broadcasting Group’s Southern Center (公廣集團南部中心) television studio as the venue. The debate date and broadcast time have yet to be announced.
Representatives of both campaigns will be invited to a coordination meeting during the week beginning Oct. 12 to discuss the format, speaking order and broadcast arrangements, according to co-organizer Formosa Television.
Options under discussion include policy presentations, cross-examination, and questions from experts or journalists. None has been finalized.
The organizers said the debate would allow voters to compare the candidates’ policies and plans for Kaohsiung’s next four years.
