Kaohsiung’s MRT will run until 2 a.m. on New Year’s Day, while the light rail will run until 1:30
a.m. The Taiwan Railway Corporation (TRA) says it will add more trains for that night’s events
as well, and run until 2:30 a.m.
City officials say the 2026 NYE Party will start at 7 PM on the Shidai Boulevard near Dream Mall, and will feature 17 performing groups… as well as a fireworks show lasting 240 seconds.
Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai told the media that the city expects roads around the Dream Mall to be congested, and the area will be subject to three phases of traffic control on New Year’s Eve, adding that MRT and light rail services will run more frequent trains.
Those planning on joining the festivities at Dream Mall should avoid driving and use public transportation, officials say, while reminding revelers to never drink and drive.
