KAOHSIUNG — Focus 13 Coral Plaza (Focus 13 珊瑚廣場), a new harborside shopping and lifestyle center, officially opened today at Kaohsiung’s Love River Bay (愛河灣). The facility, which bills itself as Taiwan’s only waterfront retail hub of its kind, launched its full operations following a trial period that drew over one million visitors.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁) highlighted the site’s historical significance. The mall is located at Kaohsiung Port Pier 13 (高雄港13號碼頭), a location once synonymous with military departures for soldiers stationed on Kinmen.

Chen noted that the project is a key part of the city’s “city-port unification” (市港合一) policy, which has successfully turned formerly restricted military and industrial zones into public spaces.

Focus 13 is operated by Gaoqing Creative (高青創意), the team known for managing the historic Hayashi Department Store (林百貨) in Tainan. General Manager Chen Hui-shu (陳慧姝) stated that the new venue is designed to be more than just a mall, functioning instead as a “lifestyle destination” where visitors can experience Kaohsiung’s unique harbor culture through a mix of dining and specialized retail shops.
The opening adds to a growing cluster of cultural and commercial sites along the waterfront, including the Kaohsiung Music Center (高雄流行音樂中心) and the KW2 (棧庫群) warehouse district. To mark the launch, the center is offering various promotions throughout its first week, including limited vouchers for popular food brands and gift certificates for larger purchases.
