PINGTUNG — A new NT$350 million indoor sports hall is under construction in Pingtung City’s Liukuaicuo (六塊厝) area, with flexible court layouts designed for both competitive events and everyday community use.

The Pingtung County Multipurpose Sports Hall (屏東縣立綜合運動館) broke ground Oct. 20 and is scheduled for completion by the end of November 2027, according to CNA. The site is currently an ecological teaching area belonging to Datong Elementary School (大同國小).

The approximately 3,902-square-meter building will have 900 spectator seats. Depending on the activity, its playing area can be configured as 12 badminton courts, 10 pickleball courts, four volleyball courts or two basketball courts. These are alternative layouts rather than separate sets of courts operating simultaneously.
The Ministry of Sports is contributing NT$100 million toward construction, with the remaining funding provided by the county government. Facilities will include restrooms, changing rooms and durable, slip-resistant flooring, according to project details reported by Mega News.
County Magistrate Chou Chun-mi (周春米) said the venue is intended to serve residents and families as well as athletes, providing space for recreational sports, training, instruction and tournaments. The announced completion target concerns construction; an opening date and public booking arrangements have not yet been specified in the reports reviewed.
