PINGTUNG — Pingtung County will host a series of summer events from July through late August, with activities ranging from arts exhibitions and youth performances to a national rocket competition in Syuhai (旭海).

The Pingtung County Government said the events are tailored to attract visitors to wide areas of the county — coasts, mountains, and urban areas — during the summer travel season.

The 2026 Pingtung Summer Carnival (屏東夏日狂歡祭) will open July 4 at Pingtung County Citizens Park (屏東縣民公園). This year’s event will feature a Crayon Shin-chan-themed exhibition and summer play area.

In Checheng Township (車城), the Hái-kháu-kóng Sea View Art Museum (看海美術館) will open an exhibition by Japanese illustrator Mifune, titled “Daily Office,” on Aug. 7.

Several markets are also planned in Pingtung City. The “Ping Hua Yang” market will run from July 3 to 5 under the railway bridge corridor on Wancang Street (萬倉街), with flowers, food, and cultural-creative vendors. Shengli Star Village (勝利星村) will host markets built around beer and taro themes, a secondhand goods market on Aug. 15, and a NEKO MARKET event later in August featuring pet-friendly activities, crafts, and street performances.

Performances at Hengchun Cultural Center (恆春文化中心) include a July 4 concert by Ya Man Club, a July 11-12 concert by Golden Melody-winning singer Olivia Tsao (曹雅雯), a July 25 performance by ChuNoodle (春麵樂隊), and an Aug. 22-23 folk concert featuring singers including Chou Chih-ping (周治平), Yu Tai-yen (于台煙) and Hsu Ching-chun (許景淳).

Pingtung Tobacco Factory 1936 Cultural Base (屏菸1936文化基地) will launch “Club PT 1936,” combining music, exhibitions, and night tours. The Pingtung County Wangye Boat Cultural Museum (屏東縣王船文化館) will also hold the fourth exhibition in its Qijiaotou series, focusing on Dingzhong Street’s Tianbao tradition.

The county will also hold Hakka family programs in July at the Pingtung Hakka Cultural Center (屏東縣客家文化中心), including parent-child Hakka-language classes, storytelling, and summer camps. In August, long-term care lectures and film events will be held as part of an “all-ages long-term care month,” followed by Grandparents Day activities at Pingtung County Gymnasium (屏東縣立體育館) on Aug. 22.

The second Taiwan Cup Rocket Competition (台灣盃火箭競賽) will take place from July 24 to 26 in Syuhai, in cooperation with the Taiwan Space Agency (國家太空中心). A public rocket launch party will also be held July 25 at Ren’ai Elementary School (仁愛國小), the county said.

Other summer events include school and university martial arts competitions beginning July 17, the Sunshine Youth Cup 3-on-3 basketball tournament on Aug. 1 and 2, Indigenous community volleyball, judo, and badminton tournaments, and a countywide aerobics event on July 4.

The Pingtung Dance Awards (屏東熱舞大賞) will be held July 25, while the 2026 Pingtung Youth Festival (屏東青春祭) will run from Aug. 14 to 16 at Pingtung Park (屏東公園), featuring student performances, music competitions, food stalls, and creative booths.

The county said it has also launched a summer activity website using AI tools, personality quizzes, and an interactive map to help visitors choose events.

More information is available through the Pingtung County Government website and the county’s summer activity portal.
