KAOHSIUNG — The Kaohsiung Women’s Prison held a “Quick-Cut Class Achievement Exhibition” in its main auditorium today (April 17), showcasing the vocational success of ten inmates who transformed from beginners to skilled stylists.

Presided over by Warden Rao Ya-chi (饒雅旗), the event featured a live demonstration where students were tested on their ability to perform professional haircuts under pressure.

    Professional Training for Social Reintegration

The training program was conducted by the “Meilexin Hairdressing” (美樂心美髮) team, providing inmates with over 100 hours of intensive practical instruction. During the exhibition, ten students and ten volunteers lined up for a “live cut” session.

The students demonstrated mastery of layering, contouring, and gradient techniques, transforming basic hairstyles into sharp, professional looks in just 20 minutes. One student, Xiao-ping (小萍), showcased her versatility by completing both female and male haircuts, proving her readiness for the diverse demands of a commercial salon environment.

    Industry Recognition

Beyond receiving graduation certificates, the General Manager of Meilexin Hairdressing, Shen Mei-li (沈美利), presented the graduates with industry-recognized “Professional Competence Cards.” These cards serve as powerful credentials for the students as they seek employment after their release.

Shen praised the students for their professional attitudes, while the graduates expressed newfound confidence in their ability to transition back into society and successfully navigate the job market.
