KAOHSIUNG — The Kaohsiung City Tourism Bureau announced that the Sanmin District (三民區) stage of the 2026 Kaohsiung Ride (2026高雄單車自遊行－乘風而騎) cycling event will take place on Oct. 17 at Panhua Park (盤花公園). Online registration for the event is currently open, but spots are limited, so the public is encouraged to sign up as soon as possible.
Tourism Bureau Director Kao Min-lin (高閔琳) stated the event features an 8-kilometer cycling route. The guided tour will depart from Panhua Park and connect to Jhongdu Wetlands Park (中都濕地公園), the century-old Sankuaicuo Station (三塊厝車站), Kaohsiung Station (高雄車站), and the New Hakka Cultural Park (新客家文化園區).
Kao noted the route highlights the district’s transition from past industrial and railway uses to green corridors and urban open spaces.
The bureau stated Panhua Park will serve as the main venue, hosting a Hakka cultural market. Scheduled activities include paper umbrella painting, Hakka floral sachet making, and demonstrations of mochi pounding and lei cha (擂茶) preparation. The venue will also feature a market and live music performances by local groups and singers, including Chen Chien-yi (陳健一), who will perform Hakka songs.
In conjunction with the upcoming Double Ninth Festival, the bureau is offering a promotional incentive for senior participants. Pairs registering for the cycling tour who include at least one individual aged 65 or older will receive one complimentary roast chicken. The offer is limited to the first 10 qualifying groups.
The tourism bureau also outlined schedules for other autumn events. The final session of the “Wild East Kaohsiung” (野趣東高雄) series is scheduled for Oct. 3 in Jiasian District (甲仙區). The “2026 Kaohsiung Love & Moon Hot Air Balloon” (2026高雄愛．月熱氣球) event will operate at Tianliao Moon World (田寮月世界) from Oct. 3 to Oct. 4, before relocating to the Love River (愛河) for operations from Oct. 9 to Oct. 11. The bureau stated that dates for the upcoming “Wild Wild Life” (Wild Wild 野生活) outdoor event will be announced later this season.
