First proposed around 2010, is planned for a 15-hectare site in Tainan’s East District, within the South Tainan Station subcenter. The project envisions a 20,000-seat indoor arena alongside cultural, commercial, and leisure facilities, with 1.6 hectares designated for public parking. Roughly NT$23 billion will be needed to build the project.
Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) legislator Lai Jui-lung (賴瑞隆) won a narrow victory on Monday, edging out fellow legislator Chiu Yi-ying (邱議瑩) by just 0.6188 percentage points to become the 2026 DPP nominee, according to party headquarters. Lai will now face Kuomintang nominee Ko Chih-en (柯志恩) in the November 2026 mayoral race, as the DPP seeks to extend its decades-long hold on the southern port city.
The “Twin Museums Bicycle Route” will be a 40-kilometer path linking the National Museum of Taiwan History to the Chimei Museum. The route passes historic sites, including Anping Fort, Eternal Golden Castle, Lin Mo-niang Park, and Tainan Cana,l before continuing along the coast and Erren River levee.
Tainan–Kumamoto and Kaohsiung–Kumamoto routes, while a Tainan–Okinawa service has also officially launched.
