KAOHSIUNG — Costco Taiwan’s new Kaohsiung warehouse is scheduled to open July 3 on Jhihke Road (智科路) in Cianjhen District (前鎮區), replacing the company’s first Taiwan store on Jhonghua 5th Road (中華五路).

The current Kaohsiung Chung Hwa warehouse (高雄中華店), which opened in 1997, will close at 6 p.m. on July 2 before operations shift to the new site the following day.

The “Taiwan Costco founding store, Kaohsiung Chung Hwa warehouse – est. 1997.”

The new warehouse, at No. 35 Jhihke Road, is expected to become Taiwan’s largest Costco. The company has promoted the location as offering a harbor-side “first-row sea view,” with wider shopping space, improved store layout and the most car and scooter parking spaces of any Costco in Taiwan.

Media reports said the new site is in the Asia New Bay Area Phase 80 redevelopment zone, near Kaohsiung Port and Kaohsiung Software Park.

    The new location under construction.

The store is expected to provide 1,010 car parking spaces and 400 scooter spaces, reports said.

The move ends nearly three decades of operations at the Jhonghua 5th Road location, which opened before Costco expanded elsewhere in Taiwan.
