KAOHSIUNG — The Dagang Bridge (大港橋) at Kaohsiung Port will temporarily suspend its signature rotation during the upcoming Megaport Festival (大港開唱), as authorities prepare for large crowds in the Pier-2 Art Center (駁二藝術特區) area.
According to local event notices reported by Focus Times, the pedestrian bridge will remain stationary on March 21 and 22 to ensure public safety and avoid disruptions during performances. Organizers expect significant foot traffic in the Penglai Port area (蓬萊港區), where the annual music festival will be held.
Officials said the decision was made to prevent safety risks associated with large gatherings near the rotating structure, which normally opens to allow maritime traffic through the harbor channel.
The Megaport Festival is one of southern Taiwan’s largest outdoor music events, drawing tens of thousands of attendees each year. Visitors are advised to follow on-site instructions and allow extra time when moving through the harbor area during the two-day event.
