KAOHSIUNG — The 2026 Kaohsiung Smart City Summit (高雄智慧城市展) concluded March 22, a showcase of the city’s expanding use of artificial intelligence and digital systems in governance and daily life. The event reportedly attracted more than 42,000 visitors over three days.

Now in its fifth year, the event focused on five core themes: sovereign AI and digital twin applications, smart healthcare for an aging population, Kaohsiung’s role as a pilot site for an Asian asset management center, hydrogen energy and zero-emission vessels, and the third CityCOP climate forum.

The 2026 Kaohsiung Smart City Summit attracted more than 200 city representatives and institutional delegates from 19 countries.

Field visits remained a key feature of the summit. International delegates were invited to check out the Fengshan Water Resource Center (鳳山水資源中心) and tour the Kaohsiung-built zero-emission vessel Porrima P111 (保利馬壹號), developed by Porrima Inc., a company founded by Acer (宏碁) founder Stan Shih (施振榮) and Professor Gunter Pauli. The vessel features a hybrid system combining solar, hydrogen, and wind power with AI-assisted controls.

Officials said the summit reflects Kaohsiung’s transition from adopting smart technologies to developing and exporting urban governance solutions. With continued international engagement and industry participation, the city aims to strengthen its position as an emerging “AI City” in the global urban network.
