PINGTUNG — The Pingtung County (屏東縣) Government building complex will be transformed into a large-scale children’s play zone over the Children’s Day holiday, with road closures and expanded programming planned for April 3–4.

The event, titled “Kids Take Over the County Government” (包圍縣府 孩子作主), will run for two days at the Pingtung County Government (屏東縣政府), expanding on last year’s inaugural edition, which drew more than 20,000 participants.
Pingtung County Magistrate Chou Chun-mi (周春米) said a section of Ziyou Road (自由路) will be closed during the event to connect surrounding spaces and create a larger, safer play environment. Road closures are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on April 3 and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 4, with traffic resuming in the evening.

Organizers said the event will feature around 30 themed activities designed by different county departments, including interactive games, educational exhibits, and hands-on experiences. Activities range from disaster prevention simulations and traffic safety zones to augmented reality sandboxes and creative play areas.

A “Little Magistrate” (小小縣長) program will also be held, with children presenting policy ideas and participating in a mock election, part of an effort to incorporate youth participation and civic education into the event.
