KAOHSIUNG — Prosecutors in Kaohsiung have indicted a police officer accused of secretly recording women in multiple cases and later using AI tools to turn some of the images into fake sexual content. The case involves six female complainants, and prosecutors are seeking a prison sentence of three years and six months, along with a fine of NT$300,000.
The officer, identified only by the surname Tu (凃), was assigned to Sanmin Police Station (三民派出所), according to the Kaohsiung District Prosecutors’ Office. He has been charged on suspicion of violating the Personal Data Protection Act (個人資料保護法) and criminal provisions related to taking sexual images.
Prosecutors say the allegations stretch across a series of encounters tied to police work. In one 2023 case, Tu allegedly photographed a woman’s chest and underarms while handling a traffic incident. In another case the following year, prosecutors say he told a woman to remove clothing while claiming he needed to document injuries, then photographed her in a sports bra. In a separate incident, they say he secretly filmed a woman in a bathroom at the police station after taking her report.
Investigators further allege that in September 2024, he ran images of six women through an AI image generator on Telegram to create pornographic material, which was then stored on his phone. Prosecutors said they found no proof that the fabricated images were circulated, but argued that the conduct still amounted to a serious invasion of privacy and a misuse of public authority.
In seeking a sentence, prosecutors said the officer’s actions caused significant harm to the women involved and undermined confidence in law enforcement.
