KAOHSIUNG — The Transportation Bureau (高雄市交通局) said traffic controls would be introduced around major tourist sites during the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday from June 19 to 21, with large crowds expected at Cijin, Sizihwan, Hamasen, Pier-2, Shoushan Zoo, Fo Guang Shan, Cishan, Meinong, and Dream Mall.

During the holiday, tourists with gasoline-powered scooters will be barred from boarding the Gushan-Cijin ferry from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. Cijin residents, electric scooter riders, cyclists, and people on official business are exempt from the restriction.

The bureau also said visitors should check traffic conditions and alternative routes before departing to avoid holiday congestion.
Roads around Cishan (旗山) and Meinong (美濃) are expected to see heavier traffic because many roads near local attractions are narrow, the bureau said. Drivers heading to Liouguei (六龜) or Maolin (茂林) are advised to exit Freeway 10 earlier at Ligang Interchange (里港交流道) and use alternative routes to avoid traffic in Cishan and Meinong, the bureau said.

The recently opened Neimen Wild Forest Animal School (內門野森動物學校) will also operate shuttle services from Cishan Transfer Station during the holiday. Visitors can travel from HSR Zuoying Station, TRA Xinzuoying Station, or MRT Zuoying Station by taking the Cimei National Freeway No. 10 express bus (旗美國道10號快捷公車) to Cishan Transfer Station, then transfer to the shuttle.
The bureau urged residents and visitors to use the Kaohsiung Real-Time Traffic Information Network (高雄市即時交通資訊網), provincial highway traffic information services, and official city social media channels before traveling. Traffic updates will also be posted through the city government’s Line account, Facebook pages, the Transportation Bureau, and the Kaohsiung Travel website.
