KAOHSIUNG — Kaohsiung Eki Ichibangai (高雄駅一番街), an anime, comics, and games (ACG)-themed underground shopping area at Kaohsiung Main Station, is scheduled to fully open on July 18 and 19.

The shopping area, described by operators as southern Taiwan’s largest ACG-themed commercial street, began on the south side of MRT R11 Kaohsiung Main Station with more than 30 shops.

After the rebuilt TRA Kaohsiung Station fully opened in December 2024, the underground street expanded to the north station area, where more than 20 additional shops began opening earlier this year.

The latest layout lists nearly 60 shops across the north and south areas, including anime merchandise stores, restaurants, toy shops, and rental display spaces.

Operators said opening promotions will include limited-time discounts, weekend markets in the north and south station areas, and prize draws. The official website has also posted shopping guides to help visitors move between the two sides of the station.

Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corp. said its network currently includes four underground shopping areas, at R8 Sanduo Shopping District Station (三多商圈站), R10 Formosa Boulevard Station (美麗島站), R11 Kaohsiung Main Station (高雄車站), and R16 Zuoying Station (左營站).

The company said the four sites are all connected to major transfer points, with R11 linked to TRA Kaohsiung Station and R16 connected to TRA Xinzuoying Station and HSR Zuoying Station.

KRTC said there are 178 retail spaces across the Red and Orange lines. As of May 31, 167 were rented or in use, giving the system an occupancy rate of 93.8 percent.
