KAOHSIUNG — The main route through Tianliao Moon World (田寮月世界) reopened after crews cleared a rain-triggered slope collapse. Meanwhile, Guanyin Mountain (觀音山) remained closed Tuesday because officials said saturated soil could still give way.

According to the Liberty Times, the Kaohsiung City Government Tourism Bureau said workers removed the fallen earth and restored access Monday evening, Aug. 24. The route reopened after a safety inspection, although some trails and scenic facilities remained affected by flooding and slope damage.

Tourism Bureau Director-General Kao Min-lin (高閔琳) inspected scenic areas Monday. The bureau deployed nearly 30 repair and inspection workers, along with excavators, heavy machinery and pumping equipment, to drain standing water, clear debris and clean the site.

Guanyin Mountain remained behind barriers Tuesday. Officials said continued heavy rain had left the soil with a high water content, raising the risk of further slope movement or falling debris.

Shoushan Zoo (壽山動物園), Jinshih Lake Butterfly Park (金獅湖蝴蝶園) and the Cijin Shell Museum (旗津貝殼館) resumed normal operations Tuesday after inspections and cleanup, the bureau said.

The bureau also said construction sites at Cijin Beach (旗津海水浴場) and Siaogangshan Skywalk Park (崗山之眼) had been inspected before the downpour and did not sustain major damage. Drainage measures had been reinforced at the sites.

Officials urged visitors to check weather conditions and the latest scenic-area notices before traveling. They warned that mountain areas may continue to face landslide, rockfall and flooding risks after the rain and asked the public not to enter closed or restricted zones.

The bureau said debris removal, facility inspections and environmental restoration would continue according to conditions at each site.
