KAOHSIUNG — A coastal forest in Cijin will again host art installations, a 40-vendor market and environmental activities this weekend as the inaugural 津之森・海風散策, rendered by the city’s English tourism website as “Jin Forest: Sea Breeze Stroll,” returns for its second and final weekend.
The free event will run from 1 to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 19 and 20, in the windbreak forest outside the Cijin Shell Museum (旗津貝殼館).
According to the Kaohsiung City Tourism Bureau, the Sea Breeze Market will bring together local brands, craftspeople and food vendors. Visitors are encouraged to bring reusable tableware and shopping bags, while reusable tableware will also be available for rent.
Outdoor artworks made from marine debris, driftwood and other recycled materials have been installed among the trees. The program includes the collaborative installation “The Fish Have Returned” (魚群回來了), which connects marine conservation with Cijin’s fishing and harbor culture.
Guided walks, ocean-education talks and driftwood workshops will introduce visitors to the area’s ecology, history and local traditions. Live music and charity auctions are also scheduled.
Visitors can collect stamps by completing designated activities, including attending talks, joining marine-debris cleanups, using reusable tableware, making driftwood crafts and sharing photographs taken with selected installations. Completed stamp cards can be exchanged for limited-edition souvenirs.
Admission is free. The bureau recommends traveling to Cijin by public transportation and ferry because parking near the venue is limited. Additional program and registration information is available on the official event page.
