The 2026 Sunshine Island Vibe Fest is now open and will run through Sunday. Building on the momentum of last year’s inaugural event, the 2026 “Vibe Fest” features a stronger eight-country performance lineup.

The festival footprint has expanded for the first time to include the Kaohsiung Main Station Underground Plaza, forming a dual-venue format with Central Park. Covering the entire Central Park, however, is likely to be the main hotspot as dozens of vendors have set up, offering everything from Jamaican food to Vietnamese cuisine.

Chang Yen-Ching, Director-General of the Department of Administrative and International Affairs, told the media that last year’s Sunshine Island Vibe Fest attracted over 140,000 participants. City officials said this year’s festival has been upgraded—from the music lineup and Island Outdoor Talks to multicultural activities and sports.

Until 9 pm on Friday and from 2 to 9 pm on both Saturday and Sunday, music performances are a big draw. Attendees can see six-time Grammy Award winner Daniel Ho & Friends alongside popular Taiwanese bands Fire EX., Amazing Show, and Mango Jump (performing in succession). Other highlights include Nibun Chorus, the Wing Stars, and mascot TAKAO from the TSG Group, the Station Master Mikan from Kaohsiung Rapid Transit, Thailand’s popular band Whal & Dolph, and Indonesian Metal Band Jubah Hitam.

The festival has received enthusiastic support from corporate partners. During the event, visitors who complete designated stamp-collection tasks at both Central Park and Kaohsiung Main Station will have the chance to win prizes including United Airlines round-trip tickets between Kaohsiung and Tokyo or Taipei and Guam, accommodation vouchers for a Classic Room at Hotel Nikko Kaohsiung, and dining vouchers for Hishou Japanese Restaurant at Hotel Nikko Kaohsiung and HAWKER Nanyang Restaurant at the InterContinental Kaohsiung.

The festival also features hands-on craft activities and the FamilyMart X Pearl S. Buck Foundation interactive zone, offering a one-stop showcase of multicultural lifestyles. Visitors are invited to try Sepak Takraw, the traditional Bamboo Dance, and Pickleball, as well as participate in Philippine family games.

The 2026 Sunshine Island Vibe Fest is jointly organized by the Department of Administrative and International Affairs, Kaohsiung City Government; the American Institute in Taiwan, Kaohsiung Branch Office; the Japan–Taiwan Exchange Association, Kaohsiung Office; the Manila Economic and Cultural Office, Kaohsiung Extension Office; and the Thailand Trade and Economic Office.

Special appreciation is extended to the festival’s supporting partners, including ASE Holdings, Quilter International Enterprise Co., Ltd., Taiwan Fu Hsing Foundation, FamilyMart, the Pearl S. Buck Foundation, and Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation.
