KAOHSIUNG — Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) and former Taiwan People’s Party chairman Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) are expected to appear together at a Nov. 1 rally supporting Kuomintang mayoral candidate Ko Chih-en (柯志恩) and city council candidates in Sanmin District.
The event, marking the launch of Ko Chih-en’s Sanmin supporters’ association, is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Baozhong Yimin Temple (褒忠義民廟), according to an Oct. 24 Liberty Times report.
TPP council candidate Lin Yu-kai (林于凱) told the newspaper that Ko Wen-je planned to visit Kaohsiung that day and attend the rally with him. Han was also expected to participate. Liberty Times described the planned appearance as the pair’s first joint campaign platform in Kaohsiung during this local election campaign.
The rally will also support KMT councilors Huang Po-lin (黃柏霖) and Huang Hsiang-shu (黃香菽), who are seeking reelection, and KMT candidate Tung Yen-chen (童燕珍). The two parties are seeking to elect all four council candidates, including Lin, whom the report identified as the TPP’s only Kaohsiung council nominee.
The event follows earlier cooperation between the parties in the city. Ko Wen-je and Ko Chih-en jointly accompanied Lin on a visit to Yangming Market earlier this month. Han also campaigned alongside Ko Chih-en in Siaogang on Oct. 17.
