PINGTUNG COUNTY — The 2026 Soundwave Art Festival (聲浪藝術節) will take place at the Hengchun Cultural Center (恆春文化中心) from August through December. The festival program encompasses music, theater, and cross-disciplinary performances.

The “Golden Years Folk Song Concert” will return to the festival, following sold-out performances last year. The concert is scheduled to hold two shows at 3 p.m. on Aug. 22 and Aug. 23. The event will feature nine singers: Shih Hsiao-jung (施孝榮), Hsu Ching-chun (許景淳), Fan Yi-wen (范怡文), Chou Chih-ping (周治平), Lo Chi-chen (羅吉鎮), Huang Chung-kun (黃仲崑), Wang Chung-ping (王中平), Yu Tai-yen (于台煙), and Cheng Yi (鄭怡). Cheng Yi is scheduled to perform on stage in collaboration with local Hengchun folk singers.

Performance group U-Theatre (優人神鼓) and singer Sangpuy (桑布伊) will present a collaborative cross-disciplinary piece titled “I Am Back – Making a Piece for My Own Soul!” (我回來了-做一部作品給自己的靈魂!). The performance combines drum rhythms with vocal chanting. Japanese singer Rimi Natsukawa (夏川里美) will also return to Hengchun to hold a concert at the venue.

Traditional Taiwanese opera group Ming Hwa Yuan Yellow Division (明華園黃字戲劇團) is scheduled to perform during the festival. In November, the musical “Cape No. 7 The Dream Maker” (海角七號造夢者) will be staged. The musical tells a story originally set in the Hengchun area. In December, the Pingtung Joint Wind Orchestra (屏東聯合管樂團) and Beans Theatre (豆子劇團) will jointly present “Christmas Magic Notes” (聖誕魔幻音符) for the year-end season.

According to the Cultural Affairs Department, Pingtung Art Pass (屏東藝遊卡) members can purchase early-bird tickets starting at 12 p.m. on July 7. General ticket sales will commence on July 13. Individuals purchasing tickets for two or more festival events will receive a 25% discount. Program details will be updated on the Hengchun Cultural Center social media page.
