KAOHSIUNG — Kaohsiung has included a southern extension of its proposed MRT Blue Line (捷運藍線) in a revised rail network plan submitted to the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (交通部), Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁) said.
The proposal would bring the line into the Guopi (過埤) area of Fongshan District (鳳山區) and the Guilin (桂林) neighborhood of Siaogang District (小港區). Speaking during an Oct. 7 council session, Chen said the Blue Line and planned Cyan Line (捷運青線) would complement the Yellow Line (捷運黃線) in serving Fongshan’s growing transportation needs, according to a city government statement.

The Blue Line is identified as the Fongshan–Benguan Line (鳳山本館線) in the city’s long-term network plan. It remains a proposed route, with no construction or opening date announced in the city’s statement.
HouseFun News reported that the southern extension could improve connections between Fongshan, Cianjhen (前鎮區) and Siaogang. The property website also suggested that improved rail access could strengthen housing demand and support property values around Guilin and Fongding (鳳頂). Those are the website’s market expectations, rather than confirmed outcomes of the proposed line.
