KAOHSIUNG — Ten light rail stations near tourist attractions recorded more than 3.69 million passenger trips in the first nine months of 2026, up 10.69% from a year earlier, the Mass Rapid Transit Bureau said.

The increase represents more than 350,000 additional trips, according to the bureau’s Oct. 6 announcement. The selected stations serve destinations including Dream Mall (夢時代), the Pier-2 Art Center (駁二藝術特區), Hamasen (哈瑪星) and Neiwei Arts Center (內惟藝術中心). The figures count passenger trips, not individual tourists.

Across the light rail network, ridership averaged 59,123 trips daily during Sept. 25–27, about 18% above last year’s three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday average. This year’s four-day holiday recorded 217,082 trips.

The bureau also extended the OhBear tourism train (喔熊觀光號) through Oct. 11. Its immersive displays feature butterflies, moonlit coastal scenery, and underwater scenes from Green Island.

Passengers can locate the train through the live train information section of the Kaohsiung Metro app, where it is marked with an OhBear icon.
