KAOHSIUNG — Megaport Festival (大港開唱) topped the list of events respondents wanted Kaohsiung to keep holding, according to a 2025 online survey included in a city-commissioned study posted this month.

Several news outlets have recently reported findings from the study, which the city’s research website lists as posted Oct. 8, 2026. The questionnaire was conducted between Sept. 17 and Oct. 17, 2025; the reason for the roughly year-long gap between the survey and its public posting was not explained in the reports.

The questionnaire collected 5,253 valid responses between Sept. 17 and Oct. 17, 2025, including 2,007 from Kaohsiung residents and 3,246 from people living elsewhere, Liberty Times reported Oct. 19.

Megaport was selected by 39.9% of local respondents and 40.4% of those from outside the city. Both groups also placed Kaohsiung Ocean Party (高雄海洋派對) second and Cijin Kite Festival (旗津風箏節) third.

Among Kaohsiung respondents, Ocean Party received 32.3%, followed by the kite festival at 31.7%, Kaohsiung Wonderland (冬日遊樂園) at 30.8% and Kaohsiung Spring Arts Festival (春天藝術節) at 29.6%.

Respondents from elsewhere selected Ocean Party at 35.6% and the kite festival at 28%. The Beer Music Festival (啤酒音樂節) and Namasia Firefly Season (那瑪夏賞螢季) tied at 23.8%.

The questionnaire also asked which events should receive fewer resources. The Taiwanese Fried Chicken and Fried Food Carnival (鹹酥雞暨炸物嘉年華) ranked first in both groups, although the supplied report did not give percentages for that question.

The findings concern preferences expressed in an online questionnaire. The report did not provide recruitment or weighting details sufficient to establish whether the results represent the wider population.

Founded in 2006, Megaport has become a long-running fixture on Kaohsiung’s waterfront. This year’s edition took place March 21–22 around the Pier-2 Art Center and Penglai harbor area.
