KAOHSIUNG — People who pay their National Health Insurance premiums directly can arrange automatic deductions through the online banking services of 10 financial institutions, saving a trip to a bank counter.

The National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA, 中央健康保險署) outlined the service in an Oct. 13 announcement. Customers with participating online banking accounts can apply through their financial institution’s website, with monthly premiums deducted once the arrangement takes effect.

The participating institutions are Bank of Taiwan, First Commercial Bank, Hua Nan Commercial Bank, Chang Hwa Commercial Bank, Bank of Kaohsiung, Taiwan Business Bank, Chunghwa Post, E.SUN Commercial Bank, Bank SinoPac and Shanghai Commercial & Savings Bank.

The NHIA provides direct links and application instructions for each institution. Menu names differ between banks; the Chinese service name to look for is 約定轉帳代繳健保費.

The arrangement can help people avoid missed payments, including those traveling or working overseas who remain responsible for premiums.

Customers should ensure their designated account has sufficient funds before the 15th of each month. Deduction records will appear in the account’s transaction history.

For assistance, call the NHIA at 0800-030-598 or 4128-678 from a landline. Mobile users should dial 02-4128-678.
